La Garnacha

Our Altiplano Garnacha grape is a true survivor. Surrounded by Bobal plantations and planted strictly in dry conditions, the Garnacha radiates a special kind of personality and elegance.

  • Vineyard and viticulture

    Vineyards located in El Terrerazo estate, situated 800m above the Mediterranean. Composed of Dolomite limestone that has a chalky/sandy texture.Traditional viticulture employed, using a strictly non-irrigated gobelet system. Ground is maintained with an alternating vegetable cover. A process that is respectful of the environment at all times.

  • Organic wine. Suitable for vegans.

  • Harvest

    Manual harvest using 15kg boxes. Harvest carried out in two phases, during the last half of September. Average yield of 1.9-2.2kg/vine or 2.200 vines/HA.

  • Grape variety

    100% Garnacha

  • Vinification

    Cold maceration on top of harvest boxes. De-stemming carried out on double sorting table followed by gentle crushing. Fermented in 50 and 80HL oak tanks with 20% of the grapes’ stem added gradually in fine layers for 10-13 days and worked exclusively using pigeages. Post-fermentation maceration carried out for an additional 8-10 days. Manual emptying by gravity using only grape must.

  • Aging

    6-8 months of mixed aging in 225L French oak casks and 35Hl tanks.

  • Tastes great with...

    Mountain rice dishes and soft stews. The wine´s acidity further accentuates dishes such as chickpea stews, potato or meats such as lamb. It is goes very well with fatty fish, cured cheeses, cecina and cured meats.
